while i'm here i might as well write about my day: i went to my cousin's wedding today! in this case "cousin" means "the bride is related to my mother somehow." i tried and did not enjoy a maple old fashioned, drank two amaretto sours, ate the most delicious gnocchi with vodka sauce known to man, clapped, cheered, held back tears, and danced. my favourite part was when the bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, and bride and groom made their entrances. it was so fun and epic because they all had theme songs and dance moves! the father-daughter dance is a close second favourite moment--it was emotional for sure! the only complaint i have is that the music was so loud that nobody could hear each other in conversations, meaning that anybody who wasn't dancing couldn't have much fun.

i can't believe it's already 2:31am--i really need to finish an assignment real quick before bed! goodnight everyone (❁ᴗ͈ ˬ ᴗ͈)ᶻᶻᶻ✧

*sigh* Honestly, I'm not very impressed with most people's party/event planning. They routinely fail to offer multiple areas or options for interaction. And then they get huffy if some folks don't go or leave early.

For a major event like a wedding, it is best to look for a divisible venue so there can be a dancing area, a chatting area, a quiet area for folks who need to decompress, etc. Ideally, offer ways to participate in the event for people who are not fans of big noisy crowds.

i totally agree that there should be separate areas! there was a whole group of people outside on the deck in the cold--during nighttime in late november in canada--that honestly just points to poor planning. how bad does it have to be that people would rather freeze their ass off than stand inside the one giant room where the party is? usually at a time like this my sister and i would go hang out in the hallways or washrooms, but the hallways weren't any quieter and the washroom was too small to hang out in. we ended up leaving before midnight (unfortunately missing the wedding cake) mainly because my sister worked a morning shift and was properly exhausted by the time the newlyweds finished giving their vows.

all in all i had fun though! my family got to keep the centrepiece which means i got to press the most beautiful white roses and hydrangeas. i'll likely post pictures of them once i find something creative to do with them.

It solves a great many problems.

That sucks. Usually it's just me standing out in the rain or hiding in a quiet corner. If it's a lot of people, that is definitely a problem.

Yep.

Typical failures include the venue being too hot or too cold, music too loud/wrong kind, or just too small for the crowd.
